** The 2012 course is now fully booked up**
Venue
The 2012 course will be held at Cheltenham College, whose excellent facilities have been the venue for many successful Eton Choral Courses.
Dates
It will commence on the afternoon of Saturday 31 March, and will end with a concert to which parents and families are warmly welcome on the afternoon of Friday 6 April.
Age
From 8 to 15 years. (Boys with changed or changing voices are welcome to apply.)
Numbers
The course will be restricted to a maximum of 60 participants, balanced equally between girls and boys.
Musical Directors
Ralph Allwood and Martyn Ford
Supervision
The course is residential, and in addition to the Musical Directors will be fully supervised by pastoral staff, headed by a Pastoral Director and Matron.
Accommodation
The young people will be accommodated in single rooms in segregated boarding houses. We will endeavour to ensure where possible that participants who have particular friends on the course are accommodated close together. Meals will be taken by young people and staff together in the Dining Hall.
Music
A wide range of music will be covered – from sacred to secular and from serious to light. The final concert will be in two parts – in the first half the students will perform the lighter music they have prepared, and the second half will centre on the Duruflé Requiem, in which they will be joined by the adult voices of the course staff and friends.
Cost
The cost of a place on the course is £580, to cover all tuition, accommodation and use of the relevant school facilities..
Bursaries
The course falls within the criteria set by The Independent Association of Preparatory Schools Orchestra Trust for the granting of bursaries. These are means-tested, and parents who wish to apply are invited to write for an application form to the Chairman of Trustees, Richard Smyth, at:
